Poetry (#1)
Hello guys, I hope this finds you well! I’ve been posting poetry through threads and wattpad, and i occasionally use Facebook. I came on here to do the same but also do more than poetry.
Currently I am going to share a very intimate poem I wrote for my wattpad story and thought I should share here as well!
Shattered reflections
“You are viewed as a great parent,
You are viewed as a valued friend,
You are viewed as a saint,
You are viewed these by others but me.
I loved you,
Not because you are my parent,
Or because you had to provide for me;
But because you were the only parent I had.
You bullied me,
You threaten me,
You wired my brain, to think like you;
You made me to be like you.
I fought,
I fought,
I fought;
And I lost.
You won,
Over, and over,
And over again;
You won nothing but in return, damaging and tearing your child apart.
You chose every one over your children,
You made sure your partner was always "fresh",
While you had expired goods in your fridge.
I still chose you,
After you guilt tripped me into choosing between you and my father,
I still chose you,
After I chose you what did I get?
Abused,
Neglected,
Taunted,
Threatened,
Humiliated,
And the list....well it goes on.
You are so good at acting sometimes I feel bad for you,
But then I remember that you choose to be like that,
You chose to treat your child like that;
While they still chose you.
Years of therapy,
Years of struggling with inner demons,
Years of just pure suffering all while you took enjoyment out of it.
The trauma built up and festered,
While I got a diagnosis,
After diagnosis,
After diagnosis.
Why?
Because you decided to be just like your mother.
You had chance after chance to change,
You judged others for what you did,
You manipulated those around,
You chose your fate.
I left.
I left,
And I still hear you,
I still feel controlled by you,
Still feel tied down by the damages you caused and did.
For what?
For being born?
For looking like my other parent?
Or was it just because you could?
I trusted you.
You were my first heartbreak. “ - Brianna Mari
